HOW TO DELETE GMAIL ACCOUNT PERMANENTLY FULL PROCESS

Gmail is one of the most popular email services in the world, with millions of users using it to send and receive emails every day. However, there are times when you may want to delete your Gmail account, either because you no longer need it or you want to switch to a different email service. Whatever your reason for deleting your Gmail account, the process is relatively simple and can be completed in a few easy steps.

In this blog post, we will guide you through the process of deleting your Gmail account step by step. We will also cover some important things to keep in mind before you delete your Gmail account, such as backing up your important data and ensuring that you have access to any services that are linked to your Gmail account.

Step 1: Back up your data

Before you delete your Gmail account, it is important to back up any important data that you may have stored in your account, such as emails, contacts, and attachments. This will ensure that you don't lose any important information when you delete your account.

To back up your data, you can use Google's built-in tools. Here's how:

1. Log in to your Gmail account.

2. Click on the "Settings" icon (the gear icon) in the top-right corner of the page.

3. Click on "See all settings."

4. Click on the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.

5. Under "IMAP access," click on "Enable IMAP."

6. Click on "Save Changes."

7. Download and install an email client such as Thunderbird or Outlook.

8. Configure the email client to use your Gmail account using the IMAP protocol.

9. Once your email client has synced with your Gmail account, you can copy your emails, contacts, and attachments to your local computer.

Step 2: Disconnect any linked accounts and services

If you have linked your Gmail account to any other accounts or services, such as social media accounts or online shopping websites, you will need to disconnect them before you can delete your Gmail account. This is important because if you don't disconnect these accounts and services, you may lose access to them after you delete your Gmail account.

To disconnect any linked accounts and services, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your Gmail account.

2. Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner of the page.

3. Click on "Google Account."

4. Click on "Security" in the left-hand menu.

5. Scroll down to the "Third-party apps with account access" section and click on "Manage third-party access."

6. Review the list of third-party apps and services that have access to your Google account.

7. Click on any app or service that you want to disconnect and click on "Remove Access."

8. Confirm that you want to remove access to the app or service.

Step 3: Delete your Gmail account

Now that you have backed up your data and disconnected any linked accounts and services, you can proceed to delete your Gmail account. Here's how:

1. Log in to your Gmail account.

2. Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner of the page.

3. Click on "Google Account."

4. Click on "Data & Personalization" in the left-hand menu.

5. Scroll down to the "Download, delete, or make a plan for your data" section and click on "Delete a service or your account."

6. Click on "Delete a service."

7. Enter your password to confirm that it's you.

8. Scroll down to the "Delete a Google service" section and click on "Delete a service."

9. Click on the trash can icon next to Gmail.

10. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the deletion process.

keep in mind

Before you delete your Gmail account, there are a few more important things to keep in mind:

Deleting your Gmail account will also delete any associated data, such as emails, contacts, and attachments. Make sure that you have backed up any important data before you proceed with the deletion process.

If you have a Google Workspace account (formerly G Suite), deleting your Gmail account will also delete your entire Google Workspace account, including any associated data and services.

If you use your Gmail account to access other Google services, such as Google Drive or Google Calendar, you will also lose access to these services after you delete your Gmail account. Make sure that you have a backup plan in place if you rely on these services.

If you have any outstanding bills or fees associated with your Gmail account, you will need to pay these before you can delete your account.

If you use your Gmail address as your primary email address, you will need to update your email address with any accounts or services that you have linked to your Gmail address.

Once you have deleted your Gmail account, you will not be able to sign up for a new Gmail account with the same username or email address.

If you have a custom domain email address that is hosted by Gmail, deleting your Gmail account will also delete your custom domain email address.

It may take some time for your Gmail account to be fully deleted. Google states that it can take up to 2 business days for the deletion process to be completed.

If you change your mind about deleting your Gmail account, you can recover it within a limited time frame. Google provides a grace period of 2-3 weeks after you initiate the deletion process during which you can recover your account. After this grace period, your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

If you have a Google One subscription, deleting your Gmail account will not cancel your subscription. You will need to cancel your subscription separately.

If you have any important emails that you need to save, you can download them as a .MBOX file. To do this, you can use Google Takeout, which is a service provided by Google to download a copy of your data. You can select the data that you want to download, including your Gmail emails, and then download it as a .MBOX file.

If you have any filters or labels set up in your Gmail account, you will need to remove them before you can delete your account. To do this, go to the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" and "Labels" tabs in your Gmail settings and delete any filters or labels that you have set up.

By keeping these things in mind and following the steps outlined in this blog post, you can easily delete your Gmail account and ensure that you don't lose any important data or services in the process.

Conclusion

Deleting your Gmail account can be a simple process if you follow the steps outlined in this blog post. However, before you proceed with deleting your account, make sure that you have backed up any important data and disconnected any linked accounts and services. It is also important to keep in mind that deleting your Gmail account will result in the permanent loss of any associated data and services. So, make sure that you have a backup plan in place if you rely on any of these services.
